still aren’t aware about what exactly they need in order to set up a call center or BPO in India.

OSP stands for Other service providers license registration, this is a registration accorded by Department of Telecommunication India (DoT). This registration
recognizes the BPO or call center setup in case you are working over your call center without obtaining this license you may have to a heavy penalty.
DoT defines that OSP is a web-based system for online registration of Other Service Providers and subsequent related activities in an efficient, effective and
transparent manner. The Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Government of India issues registration
of companies engaged in providing various Application Services under Other Service Providers (OSP) category. ‘Applications Services’ means providing services like tele-banking,
tele-medicine, tele-education, tele-trading, e-commerce, call centre, network operation centre, and other IT Enabled Services

So in short all call center related or peripheral services business are required to take OSP license in India. The process for obtaining the OSP registration
is not that difficult. You are required to give the below listed documents along with the application for OSP registration at DoT.

  • Certificate of incorporation
  • MOA and AOA
  • Board resolution authorizing the authorized signatory.
  • A blueprint of your call center set up or business
  • Shareholding details.

All the above mentioned details are required to be furnished along with the application. The process for obtaining an OSP license may take upto 20-25 days. After the completion of the
above mentioned mandatory registration a person may have to take necessary VAT
or Service tax registration is applicable.
